What To Expect During Your Furnace Installation

If you have never had a heating unit installed before, you should know what to expect when the heating unit technicians come to install your unit. That way, you can make sure that the installation process goes by much more smoothly.

Be By the Phone

The day before your heating unit installation, you will receive a phone call that will confirm the date and time that your heating unit will be installed.

Await the Arrival of the Technicians

The technicians will usually arrive in a truck that has a company logo on it and will be wearing uniforms that identify them as part of the heating installation company. They will protect your furniture to make sure that dust, dirt, and debris does not get on it. The power to your heating unit will be shut off. You will be temporarily without heat during the installation, so make sure to wrap yourself up in a blanket or wear very warm clothing.

Don't Expect a Lot of Noise

Your furnace will be brought inside and fitted to its opening. The heating installation technician might need to use loud power tools to install the heating furnace, but these tools will not be used for very long. Typically, the installation process will not take longer than eight hours. If you have any errands you need to run, make sure to let the technicians know before you leave and let them know when you will be back.

Clear the Area

To make the installation go by much more smoothly, make sure that the area where you will have the furnace installed is cleared of anything that might get in the way of the installation. It's less likely that something will be broken, and the technicians will be able to work more efficiently.

Use Touch-Up Paint

After your furnace has been installed, you might need some touch-up paint. If you have a new thermostat installed, it might not have the same dimensions as your old thermostat, and there might be an area around your thermostat that needs to be touched up afterward.

Always consider offering the technicians something to drink, since they will usually be working for a long period of time. Also, make sure to let the technicians know where the bathroom is. These concessions will make it easier for the technicians to get the job done more quickly. Usually, technicians will clean the area up afterward.
